This bike rack by stained—glass artist Laura Mentor is one of over 30 one—of—a—kind bike racks and benches located in the public right—of—way throughout downtown Louisville. Mentor's bike rack, installed in 2003, is part of a project initiated in 2001 by the Louisville Downtown Management District (LDMD) which commissioned local artists to create these public works. It is located near Louisville Slugger Field, on the corner of Preston and Witherspoon.

Laura Mentor, a native of Washington, D.C., is currently based in Kentucky and has been working with stained glass for over 20 years. Her stained glass windows, many of which draw their inspiration from nature, can be seen at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital Chapel in Louisville, Kentucky; the Paul Sawyier Public Library in Frankfort, Kentucky and at the Nelson County Public Library in Bardstown, Kentucky.
