Turrets, located on a traffic island at the intersection of Winter and Baxter Avenues in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood, is a collaborative work created by landscape architect Susan Rademacher and sculptor Ewing Fahey.
Using painted steel, brick, limestone, stone, neon and plants, the artists created an abstraction of the architecture characteristic of the surrounding neighborhood, complete with windows that glow at night thanks to neon lights embedded in the sculpture. Originally painted dark cobalt blue, the sculpture has since been painted white. (KG)
